Trip to Wieliczka and Cracow

On the 28th of November, students from Zespół Szkolno_Przedszkolny nr 2 in Sarnów set off on a trip to Wieliczka and Cracow in an international company. There were students and their teachers from Portugal, Spain and Italy. It was a very exciting day. Nobody has been to the Salt Mine in Wieliczka before. The trip participants, divided into two groups: polish and foreign waited for their tour guides. The tour started with a 360-degree climb down the stairs. During the excursion the guide told students everything they wanted to know about the mine history and its secrets. About the forces of nature ruling within the depths of the mine, about the ethos of hard work performed by the generations of miners. Travelling further and further into the mine chasm they discoverd unusual places and saw with their own eyes the power of human hands that once excavated rock salt, as well as magnificent mining tools and machines.
Students had the opportunity to see a completely different image of the mine hearing the legend about Princess Kinga and how she brought the salt treasure to Polish land. Half way along the route they saw the wondrous chapel dedicated to her and the saline works of art decorating the chapel. Visitors had a moment for reflection hearing the music of Chopin accompanying a light and sound spectacle on the shores of one of the saline lakes. At the end of the trip everybody tasted the polish dish offered in the underground tavern.
There was also time to relax and buy souvenirs, of course in beautiful surroundings. After passing through the Vistula Chamber, the students got into an old mining shaft and left the area.
After leaving Wieliczka we set off on our way to Kraków. Our guide was waiting for the group next to the Wawel Dragon's sculpture.
This second part of the trip along the streets in the Old Town of Kraków took us about two hours. Students admired the beauty of the first capital of Poland, during listening the history and legends. At the end of the trip we went to Chocolate Lounges of Wedel to taste delicious chocolate with a piece of cake.

Everybody came home tired but very happy and excited.
